Freedom Celebration
Join us at the OC Juneteenth Celebration presented by BIPOC Orange County on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM for a vibrant community celebration honoring freedom, hope, and joy. This special gathering invites families, friends, neighbors, and the entire community to experience Black culture and the significance of Juneteenth through an uplifting day of music, dance, food, local organizations, and cultural performances.

History of Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the oldest, annual commemoration of the June 19, 1865, official order that proclaimed the emancipation of all remaining enslaved people in the United States after the Civil War. This historic moment was two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, which was originally suppose to provide freedom for all enslaved people.
Juneteenth became a celebration of freedom and achievement, gathering family and communities with food, entertainment, spiritual and religious ceremonies, and cultural storytelling. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday and it continues to be a symbol of pride in Black and African American communities that is recognized annually across the country.
